Abhinandan Varthaman retired: Former IAF Group Captain and Vir Chakra awardee Abhinandan Varthaman has joined Goa-based regional airline FLY91 as a commercial pilot after leaving the Indian Air Force and obtaining the required NOC from the Defence Ministry. He is the fighter pilot who shot down Pakistan’s F-16 with an older-gen fighter jet before his own plane was hit.
‘Mayday emergency’:  An IndiGo flight from Doha to Bengaluru was diverted to Muscat on Thursday after one of its pilots was reportedly incapacitated due to being ill mid-flight, prompting the aircraft to declare a Mayday emergency, said sources.

“Obligation Of Large Nations“: Nepal Seeks Climate Justice After Floods Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal asserted that post-disaster aid should be treated as a matter of “moral liability”.
Nepal is seeking climate-linked “justice” from “large nations” for deadly flash floods in the Bhotkoshi River that swept away villages across at least three districts in the country a week ago. So far, emergency teams have recovered more than 1,100 bodies, but nearly 4,500 people remain missing after the gigantic wave of freezing water, rocks, and debris triggered by a high-altitude glacial collapse roared down the Tibet-Nepal border last week.
U.S.-Iran Conflict: Fighting between the United States and Iran has sharply escalated after a month-long lull, with the two sides exchanging strikes as fears grow over further civilian casualties. Iran also targeted bases in Kuwait and UAE in response to U.S. military support.

Indian Rupee closed at 95.44 against US dollar on Tuesday, up 26 paise. Reason – oil price fell and RBI stepped in. Brent crude slipped below 89 dollars per barrel after Iran talks news. RBI is controlling rupee movement tightly, keeping it in 95.45 to 95.75 range. One week high for rupee. Support at 95.25, resistance at 95.75.

2 STOCK MARKET DOWN AGAIN
Nifty 50 at 24,334 and Sensex at 77,656 on Tuesday, small gain. But for the week, market is down 0.3 to 0.4 percent. This is third straight weekly loss, worst in 5 months. IT stocks fell 1.5 percent due to US H1B visa fee proposal of 1,03,265 dollars. HDFC Bank fell 2.2 percent to 2.5 year low after US lawsuit news.

3 FOREIGN INVESTORS COMING BACK SLOWLY
Good news – Foreign investors who sold Indian shares worth 2.4 trillion rupees (25.1 billion dollars) this year are now slowly returning. Redemptions have bottomed out. But buying is very cautious. India is still bottom in Asia this year – down 7 percent while Japan, Korea, Taiwan are up due to AI stocks.

4 RBI BIG MOVE – 65 BILLION DOLLARS INFLOW
RBI special FCNR deposit scheme ends on 31 August. Banks have raised 65 billion dollars from NRIs under this scheme. RBI is giving banks extra flexibility to swap dollars. Banking system liquidity surplus is 3.4 trillion rupees and may go above 5 trillion in September. RBI may raise CRR to control liquidity and prepare for rate hikes.

Flows into physical gold funds picked up again due to Chinese buying and fear of inflation. Investors moving to gold as safe option.

Nearly 1.9 million children in Somalia are expected to be malnourished this year, with the country seeing ​a 32% jump in the number of children ‌admitted to facilities with severe acute malnutrition and complications, UNICEF said on Friday.
So far, 205 health and nutrition facilities have ​closed after unprecedented cuts to humanitarian aid, the United ​Nations children’s agency said in comments delivered via ⁠video call by its spokesperson James Elder. As many ​as 618 health facilities could close nationwide, he said.
Fewer ​facilities mean longer journeys for mums and their babies; longer journeys mean later treatment; later treatment means more severe illness and a ​greater risk of preventable death,” Elder said.
“This is ​the wrong moment to retreat. Somalia is confronting a worsening climate ‌crisis – ⁠severe drought in parts of the north, conflict and displacement, and, on the back of the war in Iran, rising costs for fuel and fertiliser.”

1 APPLE BIG LAUNCH COMING
Apple will launch next iPhone on September 9. This is the first major event under new CEO John Ternus after Tim Cook. Apple just launched faster Mac mini and Mac Studio. New Mac mini starts at 899 dollars and has new M6 chip. Apple says it is four times faster for AI tasks and two times faster graphics than old M4 model. Both devices are popular for running AI agents at home all day.

2 NVIDIA AND AI CHIP BOOM
Nvidia forecast quarterly revenue above estimates and shares rose. Amazon tripled its order of Nvidia chips due to surging AI demand. Nvidia is in talks to buy Hugging Face for 12.9 billion dollars. Chip design company Synopsys raised its annual forecast because AI is driving chip design growth.

Anthropic signed a 45 billion dollar deal to rent AI computing power from Nscale. Google expanded its Gemini Enterprise platform for law firms with new legal AI agents. OpenAI reported that AI agents hacked Hugging Face in a 700 strong swarm.

Former England captain Sir David Beckham says Lionel Messi has inspired “millions of children worldwide” and his “legacy will live forever” following the Argentine’s retirement from international football. Beckham, co-owner of Messi’s club Inter Miami, paid tribute to the 39-year-old’s international career in which he scored 125 goals in 207 games.
