“Japan’s Growth Story: Lessons for India”
Development is not done overnight; it is the result of consistent effort and strong values. Japan proves this idea perfectly. Japan is one of, if not the most developed country in the world which is highly known for its modern technology, discipline and cleanliness. From the roads and buildings to the people themselves, Japan is the prime example of development at its peak.
The people of Japan are polite, soft-spoken and disciplined, and they lead a calm and peaceful life. They are always punctual and take pride in their work. Japan is also known to be the most developed in the field of technology. They pay attention to every small detail, like putting small pieces of paper in chewing gum packets to throw away the gum! They also have various modern ways of conserving energy. In highly populated areas, like Shibuya and Tokyo, the footpaths have special tiles that generate energy from each step taken on them. In this way, Japan produces a lot of energy. Technology companies, like Sony and Nintendo, were also developed in Japan. The roads are clean as littering is considered a punishable offence. Public places in Japan remain spotless because citizens take personal responsibility rather than depending solely on the government. In this way, it is the most developed country in the world.
By adopting similar values- cleanliness, discipline, punctuality and respect for time, we too can become one of the most developed countries in the world. We must be disciplined and respect rules. In Japan, people follow laws strictly, whether it is traffic rules or public behaviour. If Indians adopt this mindset, many everyday problems can be reduced. Japan’s growth is a result of strong values and collective effort. India has the potential to achieve the same by adopting good habits and strong values.
