SAY NO TO FIRECRACKERS

Namaste.
In 2019, I started a signature campaign “SAY NO TO FIRECRACKERS” and have managed to garner 2000 plus people to sign up. Every year from mid-October onwards, the AQI continues to deteriorate. I see my mother having difficulty breathing and my puppy, Jhalmoody, hiding under the table whenever she hears the noise of crackers bursting in the air.
This is my bit to reduce air and noise pollution and marginally improve the Air Quality Index (AQI).
By not bursting firecrackers
Couldn’t we make the Earth a better place?
Not for you or for me
But, for the entire human race!If we ban firecrackers
We could re-heal nature
And save our natural wonders
For generations of our future
Our Mission
We, the children, should learn to drive this. Use technology to support this. Drive narratives and build partnerships; lead by example to bring about a mindset change.
- Talking and demonstrating to our communities.
- Engaging with our leaderships.
Yes, this will be a long, difficult, and slow process. But tracking SDG 3.9 constantly and celebrating small wins will help achieve this transition with greater success.
MY APPEAL
Firecrackers are like High Cholesterol Levels for our Mother Earth. Though it brings momentary mirth, firecrackers are nature’s high-jackers.
- Pollution: It affects Air, Water, Land, and Sound.
- Chemicals: Its spreading and ill-effects know no bound.
- Human Rights: Children make firecrackers that spoil their hands; Child labour should be banned.
- Sensory Overload: Firecrackers can be Red, Yellow, Blue, or Green—its effects can always be felt, smelt, heard, and seen.
Every bit matters. So, ACT NOW!
Let’s save Earth—It does not matter HOW!!
Alone, we can do so little; Together, we can do so much.
Thus, let’s UNITE and take a stand to do what’s right. Light a Diya. Brighten your lives. Have a safe, pollution-free Diwali. Let us Rejoice!
BE A BACKER – SAY NO TO FIRECRACKERS!!!
THANK YOU….
